Yeshivat Shilo (also Yeshivat Hesder Shilo) is a hesder yeshiva in Shilo, an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank. It says it is "located in the very heart of the Binyamin region in the community of Shiloh" and has about 100 students "in addition to students who are currently serving in the IDF"; it names Rabbi Michael Brom as president and Rabbi Aviv Gamliel as head of the yeshiva.[2] A profile on the settlement's website says it was founded in 1979.[3]

Its main recorded UK funder is the Tel Hai Fund, whose accounts list grants to "Yeshivot Shiloh".[4]

Location and occupation

Peace Now's Settlement Watch lists Shilo as a settlement established in 1979.[5] The West Bank has been occupied by Israel since 1967. United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016) states that Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, have "no legal validity".[1]

Link to IDF service

The yeshiva's profile says its students "combine intensive Yeshiva studies with full-combat army service in the IDF".[3] Hesder yeshivot combine yeshiva study with service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under an arrangement with Israel's Ministry of Defence.[6]
