Remarks Located in an Israeli settlement in occupied territory[1]

Yeshivat Birkat Moshe is a hesder yeshiva in Ma'ale Adumim, an Israeli settlement east of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank. Israel National News reported that "In 1977 Yeshivat Birkat Moshe was founded to provide the two-year-old fledgling settlement of Ma'ale Adumim with a spiritual foundation", by Rabbis Haim Sabato and Yitzchak Sheilat, and described it as "raising Israel's next generation of spiritual and military leaders".[2] The Igud Yeshivot HaHesder gives its address as Mitzpe Nevo 21.[3]

Its UK support charity was The British Friends of Yeshivat Birkat Moshe.

Location and occupation

Ma'ale Adumim is in the West Bank, occupied by Israel since 1967; B'Tselem lists it among Israeli settlements.[4] United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334 (2016) states that Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, have "no legal validity".[1]

Link to IDF service

The yeshiva is a member of the Igud Yeshivot HaHesder.[3] Hesder yeshivot combine yeshiva study with service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under an arrangement with Israel's Ministry of Defence.[5]

UK funding

No amounts paid to the yeshiva were found in the UK charity accounts reviewed for this page. See The British Friends of Yeshivat Birkat Moshe.
