Tim Hames is Head of Public Affairs, Communications and Campaigns for the British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) lobby group. He left this post for nine months between November 2009 and July 2010 to serve as special adviser and spokesman to the UK House of Commons Speaker John Bercow.[1][2]

Biography

Hames' biography on Speaker's Corner describes him as 'the ultimate political insider, a man well positioned to cut through the smokescreen of spin and reveal what politicians at home and abroad are actually likely to do, not just what they say'.

According to the BVCA website, Hames started his career as a Lecturer in Politics at Oxford University specialising in American and British Government. He became a journalist at The Times assuming the roles of Assistant Editor, chief leader writer and columnist. He regularly edited the newspaper as a whole between 2006 and 2008 as part of his duties. He has also recently served as Special Adviser to the Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow).
