Harry Woolf (Lord Woolf) is a crossbench peer in the House of Lords, having joined on the 1 October 1992.

Career

Woolf is a former high ranking lawyer and judge. His legal career started in 1955 and in 1973 he was appointed first Treasury Counsel, representing the Government in cases. As a judge he was appointed Lord Justice of Appeal, a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, Master of the Rolls and Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. He retired from the British courts in September 2005.[1]

Qatar

Lord Woolf helped set up the commercial court of Qatar, "the first common law court in a shariah law state," his secretary told the Wall Street Journal.[3]
