Talmud Torah Chinuch Neorim (company number 09255139; charity number 1204207) is the company and charity that runs Talmud Torah Chinuch Norim School (URN 105993; DfE 355/6007), an independent Orthodox Jewish boys’ day school at 11–13 Wellington Street East, Salford M7 2AU. The school name is usually spelled Norim (sometimes N’orim); the company and charity use Neorim. The premises are leased from The Bersam Trust (charity 526452).[1][2][3]
The school
Independent day school for boys aged 2–13; capacity 385; about 352 pupils. Jewish ethos; Ofsted lists religious character as “None”. No website. Fees: voluntary contributions. Headteacher Colev Frickers (from February 2025; earlier acting co-head with Moshe Rubenstein). Former head Eva Margulies. Proprietor on the DfE register: Joshua Waldman. Opened 28 October 1957; Ofsted 2016 said the school opened in 1955 and moved to new premises in 2016. Email addresses used in inspections include ttcnmanc@gmail.com and n.margulies@ttcn.co.uk. Telephone 0161 792 9292.[1][4][5]
Yiddish is the language of instruction for the religious curriculum. An older inspection recorded many pupils from Yiddish-speaking homes. The school serves the strictly observant (haredi) community of north Manchester / Salford and has been described as associated with the Belz Hasidic community.[6]
A congregation, Talmud Torah Chinuch N'orim Synagogue (also historically Talmud Torah / Haim Berso Synagogue), has used the same Wellington Street East address and is listed as Ashkenazi Orthodox, Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations / formerly Machzikei Hadass.[7]

Company and charity
Talmud Torah Chinuch Neorim Limited was incorporated on 8 October 2014 as a private company limited by guarantee (primary education). Registered office has included Enterprise House, 3 Middleton Road, Manchester M8 5DT. Directors have included Joshua Waldman, Abraham Vogiel, Jehuda Waldman, Israel Einhorn, Shmuel Shmelke Weisz. On 29 September 2016 The Bersam Trust leased the school premises to this company for 24 years. The Charity Commission inquiry into Bersam found the company was dormant at the date of the lease and that three of four company directors were then also the only trustees of Bersam, so the conflict could not be managed.[3][10]
The linked charity 1204207 uses the school address. Commission trustees include Joshua Waldman (from 21 October 2014), Yehuda Waldman and Shmuel Shmelke Weisz (from 15 May 2023). Joshua Waldman is also a trustee of The Bersam Trust, Ohr Torah Ltd, Belz Communities and AB Foundation.[11]
