Sheldonia Charitable Trust was established by a trust deed of 30 September 2014 and registered on 24 October 2018 to advance such charitable purposes as the trustees see fit; register areas are England and Wales and Israel.[1] Its main assets were "originally received from the estate of Mr Harris Sheldon" (PDF p.4).[2] The trustees are Paul Godfrey Sheldon (chair), Neil Barry Harris and Jonathan Boyd, with an address in London N3; the investment manager is Cazenove and the examiner Pollock Accounting of Hendon (PDF p.3–4).[1][2] Its grant themes include poverty, medical research, education, Judaism and "Countering antisemitism in all its guises", and grants go only to registered or exempt charities; in the year to 30 September 2025 "All grants made were to registered or exempt charities in the United Kingdom", totalling £64,980 (PDF p.3–4).[2] Net rents of £65,812 came from "its portfolio of investment properties in Brighton", valued at £382,418; funds were £990,741 (PDF p.4, 7).[2]

Funding in Israel

  • No spending in Israel: all FY2025 grants (£64,980) went to registered or exempt charities in the United Kingdom (PDF p.4).[2] Israel is a register area.[1]

Israeli partners

No Israeli partner is named; all grants went to UK charities.[2]

Activity beyond the Green Line and support for the IDF

Findings are graded by confidence. "Partner" findings concern the Israeli recipient organisation, not proven use of UK funds.

Evidence of activity beyond the 1949 armistice line
Finding Confidence
No grants were made outside the UK.[2] Not established

Support for the IDF: No IDF or military funding is stated.[2]

Controversies and regulatory action

  • No Charity Commission inquiry, Official Warning or Gazette insolvency notice naming this charity was found, and its register entry shows no regulatory alert;[4] it is not among the charities named in the Commission's cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements (May, September and December 2025) or in the September 2026 statement of results.[5][6][7][8] The charities in the Commission's settlements class inquiry (opened August 2026) have not been named, so it is not known whether this charity is among them.[9]
  • Property held in trustees' names. "The registered title to the properties held for rental income is in the joint names of the three trustees who hold the properties on trust for the benefit of the charity" (PDF p.5).[2]
  • Balance sheet error. The balance sheet gives "Total net assets" as £176,076 – the net current assets alone – against total funds of £990,741, omitting the £814,665 of fixed-asset investments (PDF p.8, 11).[2]
  • Register income differs. The register records income of £96,611; the accounts show investment income of £133,611, the £37,000 difference being market-value gains included in income (PDF p.7, 11).[1][2]
