Mosdos Lelov Limited
North London charitable company, struck off the companies register in 2011 after a receiver was appointed over properties charged to Northern Rock, which the Charity Commission did not remove until 2015
Mosdos Lelov Limited (registered as Mosdos Lelov Ltd) was a charitable company whose memorandum and articles are dated 13 December 2004; it was registered on 6 April 2005 and removed on 22 January 2015 as "Ceased to exist".[1] Its objects were to advance the Orthodox Jewish faith and Orthodox Jewish religious education "in any part of the World" and to relieve poverty and sickness among Jewish people; it made grants to individuals and organisations, and its register areas were England and Wales, Israel and the United States.[1] The register gives no company number, but Companies House lists MOSDOS LELOV LTD. (05311909), a company limited by guarantee incorporated on 13 December 2004 – the date of the charity's memorandum and articles – with its registered office in London N16.[2][1] Its officers were Shmuel Shmelke Biderman, secretary and director from 13 December 2004 (recorded as Israeli); Salomon Rothschild, director from 13 December 2004 (recorded as Swiss, with a correspondence address in Bnei Brak, Israel); and Andreas Klein, a director in 2005 (recorded as resident in Austria).[2] The register's financial history shows income of £110.95k and spending of £105.32k in 2007, £81.85k and £83.60k in 2008, £14.33k and £14.29k in 2009, £15.70k and £12.41k in 2010, and £55.35k and £57.42k in 2011; the 2011 accounts were received on 18 June 2013, "230 days late", and the returns for 2012 to 2014 were "Not submitted".[1]

Trustees
The register extract holds no trustee records for removed charities.
The register holds no trustee records for this removed charity; the people above are the officers listed at Companies House for MOSDOS LELOV LTD. (05311909), which is matched to the charity by name and by its incorporation date. JewishGen says that Lelów, Poland, was the seat of a Hasidic dynasty founded by David Biedermann and that "the group identified with Lelow Chasidim are in America and Israel"; no source read for this profile says whether the charity was connected to the dynasty or to Shmuel Shmelke Biderman's family.[2][4]

Funding in Israel
- No spending in Israel is identified; no accounts are available, and the register records only totals (£55.35k income in 2011).[1]
Israeli partners
No Israeli partner is named. The register lists Israel among the charity's areas of operation, and one director was recorded as Israeli and another had a correspondence address in Bnei Brak.[1][2]
Activity beyond the Green Line and support for the IDF
Findings are graded by confidence. "Partner" findings concern the Israeli recipient organisation, not proven use of UK funds.
| Finding | Confidence |
|---|---|
| No place of activity is named; the Companies House record gives an officer's correspondence address in Bnei Brak, which is not evidence of where the charity worked.[2] | Not established |
Support for the IDF: No IDF or military funding is stated in the register entry or the Companies House record.[1][2]
Controversies and regulatory action
- No Charity Commission inquiry naming this charity was found; it is not named in the 2025–2026 cheque-cashing class-inquiry announcements or statement of results, and the charities in the August 2026 settlements class inquiry have not been named.[5][6][7][8][9] The register shows it as removed, giving the reason "Ceased to exist".[1]
- Receivership and outstanding charges. Companies House records two legal charges in favour of Northern Rock PLC over freehold property in Northfield Road, London (one charge describes it as in Stamford Hill), created on 20 July and 19 August 2005 and still shown as outstanding; a receiver or manager was appointed on 9 February 2009 and ceased to act on 3 August 2010.[10][11]
- Accounts filed after dissolution. The company was struck off and dissolved on 26 April 2011 (first Gazette notice 11 January 2011), yet the register records accounts for the year to 31 December 2011 received on 18 June 2013, and the charity was not removed from the register until 22 January 2015.[11][12][1]

Land and property
The register extract does not record whether the charity owned or leased land or property (the field is blank for this removed charity).[3] No title registers were purchased; the HM Land Registry interactive search blocked automated access.[18] Candidate titles and addresses (CCOD dataset and register/accounts data):[19]
