Keshet Yehuda is a pre-military academy (mechina). It says that "the pre-military mechina 'Keshet Yehuda' was founded in 5751 (1991) at Moshav Keshet on the Golan Heights … most of the young men enlist in the army", and that "we guide the graduates of the mechina to reach all IDF units" (translated from Hebrew).[2]
Location and occupation
Moshav Keshet is in the Syrian Golan, occupied by Israel in 1967. United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 (1981) declared Israel's decision to impose its laws there "null and void".[1]
Link to IDF service
The mechina directs its graduates to IDF units.[2] Pre-military academies (mechinot) are gap-year programmes that prepare young Israelis for service in the Israel Defense Forces; an IDF report in 2013 found that 79.5% of mechina graduates enlisted in combat units.[3] See Mechinot.
