Habaid (also styled HabAid) is a UK charitable company (no. 06674416) and registered charity (no. 1126069). It was incorporated on 15 August 2008 as Habad Children Aid Society and changed its name to Habaid on 28 August 2013. Objects: to alleviate poverty and financial hardship of disadvantaged or disabled Jewish children (including orphans) and to provide education, training and residential facilities.[1][2]
The Commission activity line is grant-making to other charities in Israel and the UK whose primary purpose is helping disabled and disadvantaged children. The register also lists Ukraine as an area of operation.[2]
Income peaked in the mid-2010s (about £225,000 in 2014–15) and has since collapsed. Year to 31 August 2025: income £2,500, expenditure £13,773.[2][3]

Chabad-Lubavitch
The only official Chabad marker is the former legal name Habad Children Aid Society (2008–2013) and objects limited to Jewish children. “Habad” / “Chabad” is the standard English spelling of חב״ד. That is a founding-name link, not proof that the company is a Chabad house, a Lubavitch institution, or under the Rebbe’s shlichus network.[1]
No current trustee is listed on the Commission card with a Chabad trusteeship. Do not merge this number with:
- Chabad-Lubavitch UK / Lubavitch Foundation companies
- Israeli Chabad soldier-welfare projects (Yad laGiborim, Ezer laHayal, Kfar Chabad command centres)
- the separate 2023–24 Charity Commission warning reported against a London Chabad branch that collected money for an individual IDF soldier — that is not company 06674416.[4]
Website copy (archived) describes grant-making to “over 12 different charities” for disabled and underprivileged children; it does not present Habaid as a synagogue or shlichus office.[5]
Ukraine: Alumim orphanage (not Kibbutz Alumim)
JustGiving campaign ukraine-alumim is run by HabAid (RCN 1126069). It is for Alumim Children’s Orphanage in Ukraine, described as a recognised Ukrainian Jewish orphanage supported for “over eight years.” After the 2022 invasion the children were moved to the Carpathian mountains. The campaign page reports about £10,450 plus Gift Aid. That is not Kibbutz Alumim in the western Negev (UJIA / October 7 rebuild appeals).[6]
Supported charities and projects
HabAid funds a range of organisations, many focused on disabled children in the Zionist entity.[7]
On published filings: no named IDF unit, Hesder yeshiva, or West Bank settlement charity. Accounts filed at this income level do not include a grant-by-grant schedule. The Commission objects and activity line are children / disability / poverty, not soldier welfare.
Recipient names that appear on the archived site and on the existing Powerbase stub are disability and children’s charities. Treat the stub list as claimed partners, not audited grants:

Habaid is an Israel-and-Ukraine children’s grant vehicle with a former Chabad-style name.
Leon Leboff is described as a former vice-president / past chairman and as a trustee of British Friends of the Israeli War Disabled. He is not on the Companies House officer file for 06674416. So apparently honorary office-bearer only.[8][9][10]

The 2022 bump lines up with the Ukraine JustGiving appeal. The charity now operates at near-dormant income.[3][2]
Giving is Great scores governance poorly on a three-person board and missing policies; the Commission card lists no declared policies.[12][13]
