Alejandro A. Chafuen (born 1954, Argentina) served as President and CEO of the Atlas Network from 1991-2009, and was elected to its Board in 2009. Among a host of other conservative think tank roles he was on the ‘founding committee’ of the Donors Trust and has been a member of the Mont Pelerin Society since 1980.

A graduate of the Argentina Catholic University, he was Associate Professor at the Argentine Catholic University, University of Buenos Aires, and The Hispanic American University, CA.

In 1980 Chaufen was invited to join the Mont Pelerin Society by Leonard Read and Manuel Ayau, the youngest person ever admitted to the elite group. He joined the Atlas Foundation in 1985, and became president in 1991. A onetime follower of Ayn Rand, the atheist free-market philosopher and writer, Chafuen now considers himself a loyal Roman Catholic. [1]
