The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners is the professional body for the trust and estate profession, which "blatantly promotes tax haven activity" according to some.[1]

Founded in 1991, it is headquartered in London but has a local branch network which spans 33 countries, including many offshore centres: Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Bermuda, Isle of Man and Jersey.

As of the end of 2010 STEP had nearly 16,000 members in 66 countries. [2]
