Sheridan Westlake is a special adviser to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles.[1]

Background

After attending the Royal Grammar School in Guildford, Westlake went on to study to postgraduate level at Oxford University, where he was for several years press officer of the Oxford Union.[2]

In 2003, Westlake was elected councillor for the Merrow ward, Guildford Borough - and was according to The Guardian, a particularly "flamboyant" example.[3]- . He was re-elected in 2007 with an increased majority. In 2010 Westlake was Chairman of the Licensing Committee and serves on the Corporate Improvement Scrutiny Committee.[4] He went on to become deputy director of research for the Conservative Party.[5]

Lunching with lobbyists

In 2012 Westlake had lunch with and lobbying firms PLMR, Hanover and Westminster Advisers, and Robert Hayward.[6]
