Naushabah Khan is a former account manager at Curtin and Co and a 2015 General Election Labour candidate for Rochester and Strood.

Career

Khan was an account manager at public affairs company Curtin and Co before being selected as a PPC for the Labour Party. She has also worked for John Mann MP, Peter Skinner MEP and as a policy advisor for the Department of Education.[1][2]

Whilst combining her roles at Curtin and as a Labour PPC, Curtin found, through a survey of 1,000 adults, that less than a quarter were confident the housing situation would improve under a Labour government. At the time, Curtin MD Tom Curtin commented: 'Labour have been very clear about their target to build 200,000 new homes a year by 2020. But they are sending out mixed messages by threatening to give powers to councils to buy unused land owned by the very developers that will help them reach their housebuilding target. This contradictory messaging could be part of the reason the public are not convinced by Labour’s proposals.' Khan replied saying that Curtin is 'entitled to his view' and that 'Labour has a clear plan to tackle the UK's housing crisis'.[3]

Khan stood in the Rochester and Strood by election in 2014, caused by the current MP Mark Reckless' defection from the Conservative Party to UKIP. Reckless won the seat for his new party, with the Conservative Party's Kelly Tolhurst second and Khan third.[4] Khan will be standing for the seat again in the 2015 General Election.[1]
