Joanna Penn is a special adviser to Theresa May and Number 10's deputy chief of staff, appointed in September 2016. [1] In this role, Penn supports May's closest aides, Fiona Hill and Nick Timothy, in ensuring the prime minister's priorities are delivered across government. [2]
As of December 2016, her annual salary is £100,000. [3]
Career
Penn worked in the Conservative Research Department alongside Hill and Timothy, specialising in work and pensions policy research. She was then appointed as policy adviser to May in the home office.
Prior to her appointment, she also worked as a researcher for the Africa Governance Initiative, set up by Tony Blair.
Education
Penn studied at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. [4]
