Glenmorangie has been distilled on the Dornoch Firth since 1843. It is one of Scotland's leading brands of malt whisky.[1] In 1918 Mac Donald & Muir bought 40% the distillery with a whisky broker owning 60% until Mac Donald and Muir bought the business in its entirety between 1925 and 1930. American prohibition and the Second World War both forced the distillery to close but by the late 1970's the business began to grow again by then. The MacDonald family owned the distillery out right between then and 2004 when the family sold the distillery to LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) a French luxury goods company. [2] Diageo owns 33% of LVMH
