Glenmorangie has been distilled on the Dornoch Firth since 1843. It is one of Scotland's leading brands of malt whisky.[1] In 1918 distillers Macdonald & Muir bought 40 per cent of the distillery with a whisky broker owning 60 per cent until Macdonald & Muir bought the business outright between 1925 and 1930. American prohibition and the Second World War both forced the distillery to close but by the late 1970s the business began to grow again.
