Emily Walch, a senior consultant at lobbying firm Blue Rubicon, was appointed as Vince Cable's special adviser in April 2012.

Walch previously worked as Brian Paddick's press secretary during the London Mayoral election in 2008, and has been a senior press officer for the London Assembly Liberal Democrats (2006-07). [1]

She also worked as head of office for Menzies Campbell, Leader of the Liberal Democrats (2005-6); as welsh policy adviser for the Liberal Democrats (2005). She began her career as a parliamentary researcher in 2003. [2]

Walch holds an MPhil in European Studies from the University of Cambridge (2003) and a BA Hons in History of Art from the University of Warwick (2002).
