Greg Hands

Greg Hands has been the UK Conservative Party MP for Chelsea and Fulham since 2005. He was appointed the Chief Secretary to the Treasury in May 2015.[1]

In the 2015 general election, Hands was re-elected with a majority of 16,022. [2]

He was the former deputy chief whip for the House of Commons. [3] Hands was appointed to this role in October 2013.[4]

Background

Hands was MP for Hammersmith and Fulham from 2005 to 2010, but was re-elected as MP for Chelsea and Fulham at the 2010 election.[5]

As well as this, Hands served as as shadow treasury minister between 2009 and 2010. Following the Conservative election victory in May 2010, he was appointed parliamentary private secretary to the chancellor George Osborne.[3]

Following the resignation of defence secretary Liam Fox on 14 October 2011, Hands was appointed assistant whip in the House of Commons.[6]

Hands was educated at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School and at Cambridge University, he then went on to work for a decade in Berlin, the City of London and on Wall Street on trading floors. [7]
