Daniella Weiss (born 30 August 1945) is an Israeli settler leader and the founder and director of the Nachala settlement movement.[1][2] Since the Gaza war began she has called repeatedly for Jewish settlement in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.[3] The UK sanctioned her and Nachala in May 2025, and the EU listed her in May 2026.[4][1]

Nachala and the West Bank

The EU describes Nachala as aiming to promote "Jewish settlements and illegal outposts in the West Bank". It says Nachala's outposts, including Evyatar, Maoz Esther, Oz Zion, Ramat Migron, Nachalat Zvi and Haeitam Farm, "have been persistent sources of settler violence", and that several were built on privately owned Palestinian land. It holds Weiss responsible "in her capacity as Director" for facilitating and encouraging abuses including forced displacement.[1]

Lebanon, Gaza and Syria

In an interview with Israel's Channel 14, reported by Al Mayadeen, Weiss called for the "settlement of Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria" as "the goal of the next phase", saying "there is nothing in Zionism but settlement".[5] At the Gaza border in April 2026 she told NBC News: "Now I'm going to settle Gaza and Lebanon and Syria", and said of Gaza's population: "They will not live here."[2] On 19 June 2026 she said that "all areas conquered by Israel, in Lebanon, Gaza and Syria, must be dotted immediately with thriving Jewish" settlements.[3] When the Uri Tzafon campaign claimed an outpost in Lebanon in December 2024, Nachala said that "Jewish settlement is the only thing that will bring regional stability".[6]

Sanctions

On 20 May 2025 the UK placed Weiss under an asset freeze, travel ban and director disqualification, and froze Nachala's assets. Foreign Secretary David Lammy said: "The sanctioning of Daniella Weiss and others today demonstrates our determination to hold extremist settlers to account".[4] The EU listed her on 28 May 2026.[1]
