Sir Charles James Hoare (born March 1971) was appointed a director of The Institute for Statecraft (SC312442) on 12 February 2020. On the same day Stephen Dalziel was also appointed, and Daniel Lafaye-Edney resigned two days later. Companies House records the company as dissolved.[1][2] It is his only recorded appointment.[1]
Context
His appointment came about three months after The Ferret reported that the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) had found the Institute's purposes "not entirely charitable". The regulator found that its FCO-funded Integrity Initiative "did not provide public benefit", and that the charity had committed serious breaches causing "severe reputational damage". It reported that the charity had ended its involvement with the Integrity Initiative.[3]
Gaps
No public-record source was found that describes his background or his role at the Institute. Companies House does not record further appointments.
