Marcus Redwood is a Kent doorman who says he founded Marc-One Security in 1990, taking the name from Marcus. The firm’s site repeats that date and that founder. In 2026 he published Big Guy: The True Story of Britain’s Most Notorious Bouncer (ISBN 9781917439879).[1][2] He says he sold the firm about five years before an August 2026 interview to Gareth Brett. Companies House does not show Brett. The live company, Marc One Security Limited (12575629), has Charlene Williams (December 1983) as director from 28 April 2020.[3][4]
The book
The publisher’s description says a career of about forty years, an estimated 3,000 fights and 1,000 knockouts, door work from 16 and formal work from 18, and names Kray twins, Freddie Foreman, Frankie Fraser and Dave Courtney as acquaintances. Those sentences are the blurb. They are not yet checked against the text. The summary page is Big Guy: The True Story of Britain’s Most Notorious Bouncer.[2]
What he says about the firm
On TheContentCAST he said the company took off when he was about 28, after a divorce, the loss of a gym, and a spell in a bedsit. He had been a tree surgeon and a bodybuilder, and had already done about ten years on the door. He started with six out-of-work doormen, and has said the firm once had about 200 staff. On the Dodge Woodall podcast he said Gareth Brett runs it. On a later interview he said he no longer had a security company.[3][5][6]
Licences
On the Dodge Woodall podcast he said he had been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, that his Security Industry Authority licence was withdrawn for four months, and that his shotgun licence was withdrawn for a year and a half. A court record has not been retrieved.[5]
Rallies
He said the press used old photographs of him with shotguns after Marc-One provided security at a Nigel Farage rally, and that he was not there himself. He said he helped in the VIP area at events for Tommy Robinson, invited by Mark Bates, and that this was not a Marc-One contract.[7][6]
