Gareth Brett
November 1977; Thanet birth index Gareth Ellis Brett; Ovalsport director; named by Marcus Redwood as runner of Marc-One
Gareth Brett (Companies House date of birth November 1977; officer ID eg7mun2nRah854U5j0MO3-gQdEg) is a British company director. A civil birth index for Thanet records a Gareth Ellis Brett in the fourth quarter of 1977, mother’s maiden name Jackson. Marcus Redwood has named a Gareth Brett, whom he says he has known for about 30 years, as the man now running Marc-One. He is not an officer or person with significant control of Marc One Security Limited.
Birth index
The England and Wales births index, 1837–2006, has one matching entry:[1]
| Field | Index |
|---|---|
| First names | Gareth Ellis |
| Last name | Brett |
| Registration year / quarter | 1977, Q4 |
| Mother’s maiden name | Jackson |
| District | Thanet, Kent |
| Volume / page | 16 / 1708 |
Companies House gives month and year only: November 1977. A November birth registered in Q4 1977 is consistent with that index entry. The middle name Ellis is on the index, not on the officer file, which styles him Gareth Brett. The link is the name, the month and the Thanet district. It is not a certificate.
Companies House
Three appointments, both as Gareth Brett, British, resident in the United Kingdom.[2] Identity verification on the Ovalsport appointment is marked complete.

Ovalsport Ltd was incorporated on 12 September 2022. Its SIC code is 93110, operation of sports facilities. Filed accounts are dormant. The registered office is the same Cotton’s Gardens address.[3]
Rail Sheriffs Limited was incorporated on 3 January 2013, SIC 80100, private security activities, and is dissolved on the officer file. The Broadstairs address is a formation-agent address, not evidence of a trading office.
Marc-One
In interviews with Dodge Woodall and the Content Cast, Marcus Redwood says he sold his company and that Marc-One is now run by Gareth Brett, and that the name is still trading.[4] That is his account.
Marc One Security Limited (12575629) was incorporated on 28 April 2020. Its person with significant control, notified the same day, is Charlene Williams, 75–100 per cent of shares and votes, correspondence address 14 Cotton’s Gardens, London E2 8DN. The registered office is Fleete Court Farm, Preston Road, Manston, CT12 5AT. Brett is not on that officer list and is not the PSC.
The shared Cotton’s Gardens address is the documentary link between his Ovalsport filing and her Marc One filing. Cotton’s Gardens is also used as a formation address, so it need not be a home. No sale agreement, director appointment or PSC notice in his name has been found for 12575629.
Three other Marc-One vehicles sit with the Redwoods, not with him: Marc-One Security Services Ltd (12548999, dissolved; Marcus Redwood director), Marc-One Training Services Limited (06962853, dissolved; Damion Marcus Redwood director), and the 1990s trading name in the memoir. None of those filings names Brett.

Not established
- That the November 1977 officer is the man in the Redwood interviews. The name and the Thanet birth index make it the obvious candidate. The interviews do not give a date of birth.
- Any SIA licence, employment contract, or role at Discovery Park, Instro Precision or the Palestine Action raid.
- Relationship to Charlene Williams beyond the shared service address.
- A photograph in which he is identified.

Franks and St Peters Footpath
In October 2008 the Kentish Gazette / KentOnline named Gareth Brett as general manager of Franks nightclub, Margate, then about to reopen under pub-chain owner Frank Thorley. He was quoted on a taxi-fare promotion with Central Cars, and said the club intended to regain “the biggest Saturday night party in town.” The venue was described as Cliftonville.[1]
Franks stood at 20 St Peters Footpath, Margate, CT9 1TL. A people-search extract sourced to the 2002 electoral roll and the Land Registry lists Gareth E Brett at that address for 2002 only, length of occupancy one year. Other names on the same roll extract are Robert S Holloway (2003), Ruth E Tollington (2004–2005), Kevin Hoyle (2012–2014) and Daniel T Cowley (2015–2016). The “latest purchase price” of £158,500 on 25 November 2016 is a later transaction on the building. It is not attributed to Brett, who is not on the roll after 2002.[2]
The middle initial matches the birth index (Gareth Ellis). The 2002 roll does not give a date of birth, so the match to the November 1977 officer is the name, the initial and Thanet. Marcus Redwood’s memoir names Franks as one of his Margate doors. The 2008 report puts Brett inside that building as general manager, twenty-odd years before the Marc-One claim.
Thanet Swim School
Thanet Swim School Limited (11233322) notified Gareth Brett as a person with significant control on 5 March 2018: more than 25 per cent but not more than 50 per cent of shares and votes, and the right to appoint or remove directors. Date of birth November 1977. Correspondence address Cramptons, 139 High Street, CT10 1NG, the same formation address as the Rail Sheriffs filing.[3] This appointment is not on the two-line officer list retrieved earlier. It should be added to that table.
Probe Security contract
Thanet District Council’s contract register records an award, reference DN546612, for “Covid Marshalls / Coastal Wardens for Thanet”, estimated and awarded value £80,000, start 1 April 2021, end 31 March 2022, process RFQ. The awarded supplier is Probe Security, company number 11691889, contact Mr Gareth Brett, postcode CT12 5AT.[4]
CT12 5AT is the registered-office postcode of Marc One Security Limited, Fleete Court Farm, Manston. The register calls the supplier Probe Security and names Brett as the contact. It does not make him a director or the person with significant control. Isle of Thanet News later described Probe as operating through sister company Marc One. This 2021 award is the first public document that puts his name on a Probe contract.
