The Office for Counter Extremism (OCE)... [was] established in June 2015'[1] in the Home Office.

Staffing

In September 2015 the government reported that the Extremism Analysis Unit 'currently has 14 staff and is intended to grow by a further 10.'[2]

Programmes/Units

2019

The EAU is part of the Home Office Analysis and Insight (HOAI) directorate and reports to the Director for Analysis and Insight. HOAI is part of the Home Office Crime, Policing and Fire Group (CPFG). The Home Secretary is accountable to Parliament for the work of the EAU.[3]

People

Leading team in delivery of strategic research and evaluation. Responsible for development of evidence and actionable insight to build government understanding of nature, scale and impact of extremism and hate crime. Delivering evaluations of counter extremism and hate crime interventions including the Building a Stronger Britain Together and Places of Worship programmes; identifying what works in increasing shared values, belonging and community resilience at a local level to inform and influence government policy and campaign design.[11]
