Maria Eagle
Revision as of 20:29, 16 September 2015 by Richard Bew (talk | contribs)
Maria Eagle has been the Labour Party MP for Garston and Halewood since 2010. Previously she was MP for Liverpool Garston from 1997 to 2010. She was appointed shadow secretary of state for transport in 2010.[1] She is the sister of fellow Labour MP Angela Eagle.[2]
In the 2015 general election, Eagle was re-elected with a majority of 27, 146. [3]
As of September 2015, following the recent leadership elections, she has been appointed Shadow Defence secretary. Her stance on Trident renewal may bring into loggerheads with her new party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, who has voiced a vehement opposition to the nuclear weapons system.
