Simon Bishop was a special adviser for Justine Greening, until she was appointed Education Secretary in July 2016. In November 2016, he was appointed to a top position in global children’s charity Plan International. [1]
Career
Bishop was Greening's special adviser in the Department for International Development, when she was secretary of state for international development. [2]For his special adviser role to Mrs Greening, Bishop was paid an annual salary of £74,000. [3]
He is a former foreign correspondent for the BBC and formerly worked for UNHCR in Ethiopia, the European Commission's Humanitarian Office in Brussels and the United Nations Secretariat in New York. [1]
Background
Previous roles include, trustee to Trade out of Poverty, trustee to Project Harar, strategy adviser to The Prince's Charities, director of market development at the United Nations Foundation (UNF), head of policy communications at Shell Foundation as well as being a Midwest reporter at the BBC in Chicago.
