Ian Parker is the current senior communications adviser to the office of the leader of the opposition, and the opposition chief whip.
He is a former senior political adviser to John Healey, the shadow health secretary and former minister at the Department for Communities and Local Government from 2007 to 2010. [1]
Background
Previously, Parker worked for lobbying and communications firm FTI Consulting. [2] Parker also worked as head of strategic communications at New Local Government Network a UK think tank. [3]
Parker also has a background in research; in his early career he started working as a parliamentary researcher to Peter Kilfoyle, a Labour Party politician who was the member of parliament for Liverpool Walton from 1991 to 2010. He also worked as a research analyst for the National Centre for Social Research. [1]
