Reul attended Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz 1969 — 1975[3][1]After graduating with an 'MA in German and English literature', Reul 'worked in England from 1975 to 1988 as a lecturer at the Universities of Kent and Reading and as a freelance journalist.'
