Jane DeVille-Almond is a Trustee for the National Obesity Forum.[1]. She also acts as Vice-President and Treasurer for the Men's Health Forum [2]
Jane DeVille-Almond biography for the Men's Health Forum describes her as 'an independent nurse consultant and freelance journalist (specialising in men's health and obesity)'[3]. It goes on to report that she 'speaks both locally and nationally at conferences and other venues and has taken part in many TV programmes and radio broadcasts. She is a qualified nurse, midwife and health visitor, has a BA in English and German business studies and is presently undertaking a PhD in men’s health at Leeds Metropolitan University'.
In her biography for the National Obesity Forum, DeVille-Almond is reported to have 'worked with the MOD the DOH and many PCTs in Britain looking at ways of improving services for men'. Her biography goes on to describe her as a 'leading voice in men’s health in Britain' and 'recognised as a leading expert in her field'[4].

In 2007 DeVille-Almond was invited to Bermuda as a guest of the Government in their anti-obesity campaign[6]. She was welcomed by the Right Hon Michael J.Scott JP, MP, Minister of Health.
In 2008 DeVille-Almond returned to Bermuda for further work with the Government's Health Department.[7].
National Conference on Obesity and Health
In March 2006, DeVille-Almond was involved with the National Conference on Obesity and Health: 'A multidisciplinary Conference on the management of obesity' held in Manchester. She contributed by acting as chair for the session called 'Strategies for Maintaining Health to Prevent Obesity'. The organisers of the conference advertised for companies (in particular 'suppliers of equipment and pharmaceuticals') interested in contributing to the meeting to participate in order to 'have contact with the delegates, for mutual benefit'[8]. In 2005 Jane DeVille-Almond was on the panel for the Kelloggs 'family health study' titled 'Breaking Down Barriers: Examining health promoting behaviour in the family'[10].
The study included specific objectives:
- To explore current attitudes towards the health benefits of food & healthy eating
- To identify the triggers and barriers to healthy eating
- To explore knowledge and understanding of the benefits of consuming breakfast
- To explore attitudes and behaviours towards breakfast and cereal.
