Dan Norris was the Labour member of parliament for Wansdyke between 1997 and 2010. He stood unsuccessfully in 1992 and in the newly formed constituency of Somerset North-East.

Career

Norris stood for election in Wansdyke in 1992, however after obtaining 27.7 percent of the vote, he came second to the Conservative's Jack Aspinwall. He then won in 1997 with 44.1 percent, 46.3 percent 2001 and 50.6 percent in 2005. In 2010 Wansdyke was no longer a constituency, so Norris stood for election for Somerset North-East, coming second with 31.7 percent, to the Conservative's Jacob Rees-Mogg.[1] Whilst in parliament he held the roles of parliamentary private secretary to Rt Hon Peter Hain and Rt Hon David Miliband and parliamentary under-secretary to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.[2]
