Jake Berry is a British politician who has been the Conservative Party MP for Rossendale and Darwen since 2010.[1]
Berry was appointed a junior minister at the Department for Communities and Local Government (now Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government) on 14 June 2017, with responsibility for the Northern Powerhouse and Local Growth) [2]
He retained this position after Boris Johnson was appointed incoming prime minister in July 2019. He was also briefly Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy from June to July 2019, but this was not extended.
Berry previously was parliamentary private secretary to the chief secretary to the Treasury Greg Hands from May 2015[3] until 2017.
Berry was elected in 2010 with a majority vote of 4,493 and increased that to 5,654 in the May 2015 UK general election. However his majority dropped to 3216 in the June 2017 snap election, with Labour gaining over 9% in his constituency. [4]
