Tim Smith was appointed as a special adviser and head of political press to Prime Minister Theresa May in August 2016. His role will 'have a particular focus on regional and specialist media, outlets that voters trust and those that the Government is looking to influence'. [1]
He was special adviser to Patrick McLoughlin in the Department for Transport.
Career
In 2009 Smith worked as an intern for the Conservative Party and briefly as a political researcher for the Three Faiths Forum.
In 2010 he moved to UCOpera as a publicity officer.
He joined lobbyists Portland Communications in August 2011 as an account executive.
In 2013 he took a full-time role with the Conservative Party as a political press adviser and in May 2015 was appointed as a spad to Patrick McLoughlin.[2]
