Career

In 1991 Varley was appointed partner at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture)

In 2005 he then joined Ernst & Young as a managing partner and in 2011 he was appointed chairman and managing partner of UK and Ireland of the accountancy firm.[1]

Letter to the Telegraph

On 1 April 2015 Varley was one of 103 business leaders who wrote to the Telegraph praising the British Conservative Party's economic policies and claiming a Labour government would 'threaten jobs and deter investment' in the UK.[2]
