Chris Davidson is a director in tax management consulting at big four accountancy firm KPMG.
He is the former head of the Anti-Avoidance Group at HM Revenue and Customs.
Career
Davidson has worked for Inland Revenue, first as an assistant director in business tax (2001-2003) and then as deputy director, special compliance office (2003 to 2004). After Inland Revenue's merge with HM Customs and Excise Departments, he began working for the subsequently formed HM Revenue and Customs, holding roles as head of [[Anti-Avoidance policy and strategy (2004-2006), OECD tax intermediaries study (2006-2007), deputy director of large business service (2008-2011) and head of the Anti-Avoidance Group (2011-2014).[1]
Move to KPMG
In April 2014, accountancy firm KPMG hired Davidson as a director in tax management consulting. At KPMG he will be advising clients on meeting best practice standards on tax governance and compliance.[2]
Davidson's hiring was seen as controversial, due to him being the former head of the Anti-Avoidance Group and KPMG's history of being criticised for helping clients avoid tax.
