The Adelson Family Foundation (EIN: 20-4336659) is a grant making foundation which supports a number of Jewish and pro-Israel causes. The organisation was founded by American casino mogul and hardline Zionist Sheldon Adelson. In 2014 Adelson was ranked as the 15th richest American on the Forbes 400.[1]
A member of the Board of Directors of the conservative Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Adelson is also a generous contributor to such Israel lobby projects as AIPAC, One Jerusalem, Freedom's Watch, Taglit Birthright and the Jerusalem-based Adelson Institute. Adelson is a staunch opponent of the two-state solution in Israel-Palestine.[2]
The Adelson Family Foundation is a major donor to the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. Between 2002 - 2013 the foundation donated $339,600 to the FIDF.[3]
The American Islamic Congress has received funding from the foundation; the AIC has refused to engage with mainstream Muslim civil rights groups and forbade "members of its student arm, Project Nur, from discussing Palestine-related issues on campus."[4]
