Alaina Macdonald is a former special adviser to the Ministry of Defence, a role which included advising the Secretary of State for Defence on policy and strategic communication. [1]
Macdonald left the Government in 2010, and has had a number of jobs since leaving Government. Starting with speechwriter to the Secretary General at NATO. [1] She has also worked as a senior consultant at Regester Larkin a specialist international consultancy that "works with organisations facing – or preparing to face – challenges or crises." [2]
Macdonald currently works as the external affairs manager Westminster at Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets). Macdonald's work focused on building up a network of contacts between Ofgem and its key political stakeholders in Westminster, including MPs, special advisers and peers, in order to establish an awareness of Ofgem’s work with parliamentarians. As well as being the head of PR and public affairs at NCT Charity the UK's largest parenting charity. [3]
