Alaina Macdonald is a former special adviser to the Ministry of Defence, a role which included advising the Secretary of State for Defence on policy and strategic communication. [1]
Macdonald left the Government in 2010, and has had a number of jobs since leaving Government. Starting with speechwriter to the secretary general at NATO. [1] She has also worked as a senior consultant at Regester Larkin a specialist international consultancy that "works with organisations facing – or preparing to face – challenges or crises." [2]
Macdonald currently works as the external affairs manager Westminster at Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets). Macdonald's work focuses on building up a network of contacts between Ofgem and its key political stakeholders in Westminster, including MPs, special advisers and peers, in order to establish an awareness of Ofgem’s work with parliamentarians.
