Pinchas Buchris, (also rendered as Pinhas Buchris) is a former Israeli military and intelligence operative as well as a corporate director. He has been Chief Executive Officer of Oil Refineries Ltd since May 2011.[1] Since 2002, 'Buchris has been engaged, from time to time, as an independent consultant and advisor for several high-tech companies and security-based organizations.' [1]
He served as Partner, Tech & Telecom sector Israel of Apax Partners Worldwide LLP. Buchris was an Investment Professional at Tamares Private Equity. He joined the Apax Israel team in January 2003, as a Venture Partner. He served as General Manager of the Israel Ministry of Defense from 2007 to 2010. Before that, he was a Managing partner in Apax Fund, a private equity investment group. Mr. Buchris was a Venture Partner at Apax Partners and Managing Director of Tamares Capital Ltd., both of which positions he has held since 2002. From 1974 through 2001, Mr. Buchris served in the Israeli Defense Forces where he achieved the rank of Brigadier General (retired).[1]
From 1997 through 2001, he led the Israeli Defense Force's largest technology information gathering unit, the Central Unit of Technology Intelligence. He serves as a Director of Escape Rescue Systems Ltd., GO Networks Inc., A. Nuriel Knafaim Holdings and RaySat Inc. Mr. Buchris serves on the Board of Directors of Bezeq the Israeli Telecommunications Corp. Ltd., an Israeli company traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, and several privately-held companies including Tamares Israel Investments Ltd., Tamares Capital Ltd., Global Medical Networks, and AGN Knafaim Holdings Ltd. He served as a Director of Bezeq Israel Telecommunication Corp. Ltd. from October 11, 2005 to April 5, 2007 and Protalix BioTherapeutics, Inc. from December 2006 to May 30, 2007. He served as a Director of Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. from November 2003 to July 2005. [1]
Buchris holds a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the Technion Technology Institute of Haifa, Israel, and an M.B.A. degree from the Israeli extension of Derby University, United Kingdom. Mr. Buchris has also completed an Executive Finance program and an Advanced Directors program at the Israeli Management Center as well as an Advanced Management program at Harvard University.[1]
