Work on the issue of animal rights and the arguments around animal research led James to look more broadly at the issue of contemporary society’s attitudes to science, and his preliminary thoughts on this issue found their expression in the book he co-edited with Oliver Hartwhich of the think tank Policy Exchange - Science vs Superstition: the case for a new scientific enlightenment (Policy Exchange, 2006).[3]
