Stuart Popham is a lawyer and the chairman of financial sector lobbying group TheCityUK.

Biography

Stuart Popham was the Senior Partner, worldwide, of Clifford Chance LLP from 2003 until 31 December 2010. He chaired the firm's Partnership Council, the supervisory board of the worldwide firm. While being responsible for a number of client relationships, he had particular responsibility for Clifford Chance's reputation and values.
Stuart is a member of the International Advisory Board for the CBI and Chairman and Vice-Chairman (since 2007) of the CBI London Council. Stuart chairs TheCityUK the newly created body to promote financial services, is a member of the London Promotional Council and is an International Envoy for London. He is a trustee of the Tower Hamlets Business Education Partnership. Stuart is also a member of the business Advisory Forum of the Saïd Business School, Oxford University and also sits on the Council of The Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). He is a Patron of the Whitehall Industry Group.

Career

Popham joined Clifford Chance in 1976 and was admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in 1978. He was based in the Singapore office between 1981-1984, then became a partner based in London from 1984. Later he became Head of London Finance and Securities Group (1992-1995) and Leader of Global Finance Practice (1999-2002). He was a Senior Partner of Clifford Chance LLP from 2010. [1]
