Stephen Gabriel Miron (born 8 May 1965) is a British media executive. He was group chief executive of Global Media & Entertainment from 2008 to March 2025 and became chairman of the group when Simon Pitts took the CEO post. He has been a trustee of The Ashley Tabor-King Foundation since the charity was formed in 2018.[1][2][3]
He has not published an account of his background. A 1982 Jewish Chronicle youth-Shabbat list at Kingston, Surbiton and District Synagogue names a Stephen Miron of the right age in the Hampton/Kingston catchment (see below). No later trusteeship of UJIA, JNF UK, CST or the Board of Deputies of British Jews has been found. Do not confuse him with Steven A. Miron (Advance/Newhouse, Syracuse), who has sat on the Jewish Community Foundation of Central New York — a different man.[4]

Birth. Stephen G. Miron, England & Wales births, 1965 Q2, mother’s maiden name Drass, district Kingston upon Thames. That is the same borough as Kingston, Surbiton and District Synagogue and the catchment of Hampton School. Combined with the January 1982 Jewish Chronicle youth-Shabbat list, the civil index makes the identification of the Global executive with that congregation robust.[5][6]

- Stephen G. Miron married Suzanne J. Grover, 2005 Q2 (registration month May), district Oxfordshire, page 0436, entry 002. This is the Suzanne Jane Miron (born November 1967) who is co-director of SM Enterprises (UK) Limited.[8][9]

Stephen G. Miron was registered 1965 Q2, Kingston upon Thames, mother’s maiden name Drass.[5] That district matches both Kingston, Surbiton and District Synagogue and the Hampton School catchment.

FremantleMedia Limited is the vehicle that took on the production business of Thames Television after the ITV franchise was lost (Pearson / Fremantle line). Secondary write-ups describe Roger Miron as having worked in television sales, including at Thames; the primary record is the FremantleMedia directorship and the “Director of Sales” occupation, not a Thames staff list.[12]
Family and synagogue
A Jewish Chronicle community note dated 8 January 1982 records a youth Shabbat at Kingston, Surbiton and District Synagogue (United Synagogue; now KSDS, Uxbridge Road, Kingston). Boys aged six to sixteen took the parts of minister, chazan and wardens. Named: David Assor, Michael Azaria, Stephen Berkovitch, Jonathan Cohen, Timothy Cowen, Mark Kosky, Stephen Miron and Kevin Moss. The service was organised by the local shaliach, Israel Azaria; food was brought in by sledge because of snow. Over fifty children stayed for lunch.[6]
Miron was 16 that week (born 8 May 1965) and was later recorded as a pupil of Hampton School, four miles from the synagogue. The match of name, age band and catchment is the first documentary sign that he grew up in a United Synagogue community.[4]
The congregation is Modern Orthodox, affiliated to the United Synagogue.
Early career
Educated at Hampton School, Middlesex. No university. Safeway management trainee, 1983 (told to leave for being “a bit cheeky”). Sales at TV Times from 1985. Advertisement manager, The Mail on Sunday, from 1988. Commercial director, The Independent, 1998, under Gavin O'Reilly. Returned to Associated Newspapers / DMGT in 2002 as managing director of The Mail on Sunday and Mail Digital; credited with the early MailOnline site and with floating the idea of Metro after a trip to Sweden with Lord Rothermere. Board of Associated Newspapers. Director of The Newspaper Publishers Association Limited, 13 July 2000 to 29 November 2001.[4][13][14]
Global
Hired August 2008 as chief executive of the combined Global / GCap Media radio business after the OFT cleared the GCap purchase. He has said he met Ashley Tabor-King through Philip Green. With Tabor-King and chairman Charles Allen, Baron Allen of Kensington he ran the roll-up of Heart, Capital, Classic FM, LBC, Smooth, Radio X and the 2018 outdoor acquisitions (Primesight, Outdoor Plus, Exterion Media). Company copy later put group reach at about 51 million people a week. He sat on the Radiocentre board from 2009. Arqiva Industry Leader of the Year, 2016.[15][16][2]
February 2024: announced he would leave the CEO job in March 2025 and become chairman; Allen became senior non-executive. Simon Pitts (ex-STV) succeeded as CEO.[2][17]
LBC editorial rows in this period — Ofcom “Jewish Embassy” finding (2021), Sangita Myska exit after the Avi Hyman interview (April 2024), Natasha Devon apology (April 2024), Board of Deputies of British Jews call to take James O'Brien off air (July 2025) — sit under Global while he was CEO or chairman. They are set out on The Ashley Tabor-King Foundation and Ashley Tabor-King. No source attributes those decisions to Miron by name.[18]
Charities and clubs
Trustee of The Ashley Tabor-King Foundation (1178634) from 31 May 2018. The Foundation sits at Global, 30 Leicester Square. Its named grants include £1.13 million to Global Academy UTC (Miron and Tabor-King recused themselves from that minute) and £25,000 to Westminster Synagogue in the year to 5 April 2020. That synagogue gift is the only Israel/Jewish-communal line in the Foundation accounts. Miron is not recorded as a trustee of any other Charity Commission body on the Foundation register card.[3][18]

Former president of NABS (advertising-industry welfare) and of The Thirty Club of London, Limited. Short spell as director of the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation (July 2008–about March 2010 on one listing). Advisory board of BBH. Marketing Week (2015) also put him on a Universal Music board; that appointment is not confirmed on the main Companies House officer file used here.[20][21]
