Spera Security (also known as Spera) was a Tel Aviv identity security company founded in 2022 by Dor Fledel (CEO) and Ariel Kadyshevitch (CTO). Okta announced in December 2023 that it would acquire the company, and completed the purchase on 8 February 2024.[1] Ctech put the price at about $100–130 million, depending on milestones.[2]
Founders
The Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that Spera "was founded in 2022 by two veterans of the Israeli military intelligence's elite unit 8200".[3] A 2023 company profile in Pulse 2.0 said Ariel Kadyshevitch and Dor Fledel "met during their time in the Israeli Defense Forces where they served in the military intelligence Unit 8200". In the same profile Fledel said he had been through the IDF's Talpiot academic training programme.[4]
Funding
According to Ctech, the company raised $10 million in a seed round announced in March 2023, and it employed 25 people, who were expected to form the base of Okta's research and development centre in Israel.[2]
