Simon Lewis is a former director of communications at Number 10 Downing Street and was Prime Minister Gordon Brown's official spokesman from June 2009 until May 2010. After Labour lost the election he joined UK Trade and Investment as strategic communications adviser. In September 2010 he landed the job of chief executive of the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME). [1]
In his new role at AFME, Lewis will lobby governments and regulators on behalf of all Europe's leading financial institutions. [2]
Before working in government Lewis had been group corporate affairs director at Vodafone since 2004, and had also held senior roles at Centrica. During his time there he was seconded to Buckingham Palace to serve as the first Communications Secretary to the Queen.

- Simon Lewis joined Vodafone as Group Corporate Affairs Director in November 2004. Previously he was Group Director of Communications and Public Policy for Centrica Plc, Director of Corporate Affairs at NatWest Group and the Head of Public Relations at SG Warburg plc. He was President of the Institute of Public Relations in 1997 and is a Visiting Professor at the Cardiff School of Journalism. In 1998, he was seconded to Buckingham Palace for two years as the first Communications Secretary to The Queen. He is also a trustee of the Vodafone Group Foundation. [3]
Lewis is the brother of journalist Will Lewis, a former editor of The Telegraph. [4]
