Scottish Council of Jewish Communities
Representative body of Scotland's Jewish communities, 1999–2025, renamed the Jewish Council of Scotland (OSCR SC029438)
The Scottish Council of Jewish Communities (SCoJeC) was registered as a charity on 30 September 1999. It became a Scottish charitable incorporated organisation (SCIO) on 1 December 2011, and was renamed the Jewish Council of Scotland in 2025: the council's accounts give 19 January 2025 for the change of name, and the OSCR register gives 19 February 2025.[1][2]
In 2008 the Glasgow Jewish Representative Council described it as "the representative body of all the Jewish communities in Scotland comprising Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee as well as the more loosely linked groups of the Jewish Network of Argyll and the Highlands, and of students studying in Scottish Universities and Colleges". It said that SCoJeC "represents the Jewish community in Scotland to government and other statutory and official bodies, monitors the Scottish Parliament and liaises with MSPs".[3] In 2004 SCoJeC began a newsletter, Four Corners, for "the scattered Jews of Scotland", produced from the Jewish Community Centre, 222 Fenwick Road, Giffnock, Glasgow G46 6UE.[4]
Succeeded by: Jewish Council of Scotland (from 2025).[1]
Now renamed the Jewish Council of Scotland.[1]
Based at 222 Fenwick Road, Giffnock, Glasgow, G46 6UE. The synagogue there says that the upper floor of its building is used by SCoJeC among others.[5]
