Rosalind Roberts
British intelligence analyst and Director of Research at RUSI
Rosalind Roberts is a British intelligence professional. She has served in senior analytic and leadership roles across the United Kingdom government, including the Ministry of Defence (MOD), Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Home Office. Since January 2026 she has been Director of Research at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).[1]
Career
Roberts has spent her career in intelligence analysis and leadership positions within the UK government. She has specialised in conflict and peace-building in the Middle East and has led teams on wider geopolitical and security issues, including terrorism and extremism, counter-proliferation and emerging technology.[1]
She served four years as Head of Research Analysts in the FCDO, leading the department’s in-house research analyst cadre that provides expert regional and thematic advice to ministers and officials.[1]
Prior to that she was Head of Capability for All Source Analysis in the MOD, with responsibility for the professional development of the department’s all-source intelligence analysis capability in Defence Intelligence.[1]
She has also held analytic and leadership roles in intelligence in the Home Office, presumably in the Office for Security and Counter Terrorism.[1]
In January 2026 she joined RUSI as Director of Research, overseeing the institute’s research output on defence, security and international affairs.[1]
Education
Roberts holds a degree in International Politics and Security Studies and a Masters in International Peace and Security.[1]
