Portshift was a Tel Aviv cyber-security company that made security software for containers and Kubernetes. Globes reported that it was "founded in 2018 in the Team8 cybersecurity foundry in Tel Aviv" by chief executive Ran Ilany and chief technology officer Zohar Kaufman. Cisco bought it in 2020, and market sources put the price at around $100 million.[1]
Team8 link
Portshift's launch press release was headlined "Cybersecurity and Data Powerhouse Team8 Launches Portshift, a New Breed of Automated Application Security".[2] Team8, whose founders include former Unit 8200 commander Nadav Zafrir, lists Portshift in its portfolio as "Acquired by: Cisco".[3][4]
Globes describes Ilany as the "former head of security infrastructure division at Check Point Technologies" and Kaufman as a former vice-president of research and development at CTERA Networks and SofaWare. It names no military unit for either founder.[1] The firm's link to Israeli intelligence therefore runs through Team8, not through its founders.
