His Stonehaven profile describes him as such:
- 'Peter founded Stonehaven in 2014 and oversees the customer strategy and client reputation offering. He works with clients to build bespoke insight and strategic campaigns - applying the research and execution lessons from political campaigns to develop messages that matter and strategies that work, to win competitive advantage for his clients.
- Before Stonehaven, he spent four years working on political campaign strategy with Lynton Crosby. Peter currently advises clients across Infrastructure, Financial Services, Resources, Real Estate, Healthcare and Utilities.'
Lyburn attended the Scottish Agricultural College.
In 2010 he stood as Conservative Party candidate for one the Tories' must-win target seats at the time, Perth and North Perthshire, and lost. He was seen as a rising star, and in 2008 had been named among the Tories 'top 10 totty' by society magazine Tatler.
He is Rosie Lyburn's partner, and has a child with her. Former model Rosie caused some outrage when it was revealed she had been paid a taxpayer-funded salary of up to £52,999 a year for her special adviser role, which involved giving David Cameron’s wife fashion advice.
