Peter Collecott was a Diplomat with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for 19 years and is now an adviser with BG Group, Smith Group Plc and The Prince's Charities' International Sustainability Unit and a consultant at G4S.
Career
Collecott was a Diplomat with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office between 1989 and 2008. His roles included:[1]
- 1989-1993 - Counsellor and Head of Chancery, Embassy, Indonesia,
- 1993-1998 - Economic Counsellor, Embassy, Germany,
- 1999-2001 - Director, Resources, Foreign and Commonwealth Office
- 2001-2004 - Deputy Under-Secretary for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Chief Clerk
- 2004-2008 - Ambassador to Brazil
Revolving door
In June 2009 he was appointed as an adviser on Brazil and external relations to the oil and gas company BG Group plc, the role was approved by ACOBA "subject to a waiting period of six months from his last day in post and the condition that, for 12 months from the same date, he should not be personally involved in lobbying UK Government Ministers or Crown servants, including Special Advisers, on behalf of his new employer".[2][3]
In August 2009 he was appointed as an adviser to the engineering company Smiths Group plc, the role was approved by ACOBA "subject to the condition that, for 12 months from his last day in post, he should not be personally involved in lobbying UK Government Ministers or Crown servants, including Special Advisers, on behalf of his new employer".[3]
In September 2009 he was appointed a consultant at security company G4S plc., the role was approved by ACOBA "subject to the condition that, for 12 months from his last day in post, he should not be personally involved in lobbying UK Government Ministers or Crown servants, including Special Advisors, on behalf of his new employer".[3]
He has also been a special adviser to the The Prince's Charities' International Sustainability Unit since October 2010.[2]
