Back in 2010, the Jewish Chronicle described Mick Davis as an outspoken critic of Israel. At that time, Lucille Cohen, the president of the Manchester Jewish Representative Council, doubted that Davis’s opinions reflected those of the majority of British Jews but warned that his views would lead to “a growing misguided influence of post-Zionism in our youth which is detrimental to their understanding of Israel.” Lucille Cohen now lives in Israel. How right she was. Myer Green, co-founder of Scottish Friends of Israel and now a resident of Netanya, warned back then that he was taken aback by the attitude of Mick Davis which, he said, “legitimized the language and perception of Israel's enemies by suggesting that Israel's might be heading along the path to apartheid."[3]

The 700 arrivals at Glasgow’s Israel at 60 party at Eastwood Park, Giffnock, received “passports” to enter a mock-up of Ben Gurion airport lounge and then an Israeli market place. Their target was to win prizes by collecting stamps for activities including making kites, jewellery and key rings and decorating a cookie. Other popular pursuits were face painting and a quiz challenge from JLGB. Self-defence and a magic show were other elements of a diverse programme and a particular hit with the kids was a mini-zoo with snakes, chickens, rabbits and tortoises. Queues formed for the bouncy castles.
UJIA and Enjoy — comprising representatives from Glasgow’s five Orthodox congregations — ran the youth component and UJIA’s Ben Freeman told the JC: “We worked well together. It has been a truly amazing evening.” Adults enjoyed a celebration concert in the Eastwood Park Theatre where the star attractions were singer/comedian Daniel Cainer and Israeli singer Avivit.
A highlight of the evening was an exhibition devoted to recent Israeli breakthroughs in medicine, science and technology, produced by Dr Myer Green and Dr Walter Sneader, assisted by Dr Michael Greenhill. The exhibition will be available to schools, synagogues and other interested organisations.[4]

We have been notified by Mr Myer Green that a comment submitted under the name of M. Green on the blog was not in fact written by Dr Myer Green. We deplore this attempt by someone to imply that they were Mr Myer Green of Scottish Friends of Israel. Our initial investigations have resulted in the discovery that the messages posted by A Machor and the fraudulent M Green were sent from the same computer. These messages have now been removed.
Once our investigations are completed and if we discover the identity of the person concerned we will inform Mr Green of their identity as well as the appropriate authorities. They will not be allowed to take any further part in the blog. We have set this blog up for the benefit of communal discussion and debate and we ask everyone to use it responsibly.[5]
