Sir Michael Charles Gerrard Peat (born November 1949) is a chartered accountant and former senior courtier. He was a non-executive director of M&C Saatchi from 8 June 2016 to 10 December 2019.[1]

Career

In his Trinity College, Oxford profile he says he became a KPMG partner in 1985, led a consultancy study of the Royal Household's finances in 1986–87, and joined the Household in 1993. There he was Keeper of the Privy Purse and Treasurer to the Queen, Principal Private Secretary to the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, and chairman of The Prince's Charities Foundation, retiring in 2011. He lists later roles as chairman of the investment manager CQS, senior independent director of Evraz plc, non-executive chairman of GEMS Education, a board member of Deloitte UK, and a director of M&C Saatchi.[2] On his retirement Clarence House said he would also "provide consultancy services to the family interests of Wafic Said".[3] Companies House records him as a former director of The Said Foundation.[1]

M&C Saatchi resignation

On 10 December 2019 M&C Saatchi announced that Peat, Lord Dobbs and Lorna Tilbian had stepped down as non-executive directors "with immediate effect", and that Lord Saatchi had resigned.[4] The BBC reported that the resignations followed an accounting scandal and a £11.6m hole in the company's earnings.[5]
