Meyer Oppenheim Trust is a Scottish charity, number SC004976, constituted as a trust and on the Scottish Charity Register from 24 July 1972. The register gives its address, a trustee address, as Elm Farm, Hamstead Marshall, Newbury RG20 0HR, its main operating location as City of Edinburgh, and describes it as "a grant making charity". It lists one trustee, Douglas Oppenheim.[1]
According to the trust's website, it was established in 1965 by Meyer Oppenheim (1906–1982), known as Mike, "a Scottish entrepreneur and philanthropist" born in Edinburgh, who was chairman of James Grant & Co and of Argyle Securities. The website says he acquired the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh in 1960 and gave it to the City of Edinburgh in 1964, and that he created and endowed the Water of Leith Walkway Trust. It names the trustees as Susie Olins and Douglas Oppenheim, and says the trust "makes a small number of grants each year, primarily to UK based charities".[2] The register gives 1972 as the date of the trust's constitution.[1]
